  10. More movement to put your mind at rest

Our bodies are designed to move and move well. Historically we moved incidentally all day long. We simply didn’t experience the fatigue, sluggishness and injuries we experience in the modern world. For the first time in our evolutionary history we have to make a choice to move! We have to timetable exercise into our week…..make appointments with ourselves to be active!

When training and coaching people we always work towards optimal movement. Whether the individual is an elite athlete, older adult or a mother of three, the principles of functional movement are a constant. Your body/mind has an intuitive sense of what it needs and where it should be. Our movement coaching will stimulate and support your body towards it’s potential.

We’ve worked with:

Professional and Recreational Surfers
AFL footballers
National/International level Netballers
Elite Junior tennis players

Breathing

Can you breathe well?

“Respiration always goes hand in hand with the postural stability of the spine.” – Prague School of Rehabilitation

Can you breathe well? How are we functionally designed to breathe? What does breathing influence and does it really make a difference?

The importance of our breathing is poorly understood because it is something we all do without much consideration or awareness. The truth is our breathing has a huge affect on how we move, how we think and how we feel.  The average person breaths 30,000 times a day…..so if our breathing is even slightly “off” then there will be a huge accumulation affect, day to day, week to week and even year to year.

By training your breathing properly you will:

  1. Experience more energy
  2. Become clearer and calmer
  3. Generate far better stability for athletic movement
  4. Reduce/overcome back pain through enhanced stabilization
  5. Deal with health issues such as asthma, fatigue, anxiety and depression
  6. Have deeper and more rejuvenating sleep
  7. Improve movement and flexibility

Even though we all know how to breathe, very few of us actually breathe functionally. In the developed world our daily habits inhibit our ability to breath well and with ease. Too much time sitting in chairs, more and more stressors in our lives and a tendency of “mental busyness” all contribute to the average person breathing too fast, breathing too shallow and breathing through the mouth. Along with this our posture and alignment affects the function of our primary respiration muscle (diaphragm) and so we become unstable and experience poor stability and pain.

Live Better Longer will teach you how to:

  1. Regulate your breathing rate and volume
  2. Use and feel the affects of a functional diaphragm
  3. Create Intra Abdominal Pressure (IAP) to develop better stability and postural control
  4. Use breathing rhythms to bring about relaxation

Movement Rehabilitation

Are you in pain?

Are you in pain? Is your body letting you down? Do you need guidance with your training or rehabilitation?

We offer movement solutions to:

  1. Back pain
  2. Postural instability
  3. Joint dysfunction
  4. Sports injuries
  5. Stress/ Anxiety
  6. Post surgery rehab

Our bodies are designed to move, and move well. For many of us, our daily habits take from the quality of our movement and as a result, stiffness, soreness and pain often occurs.

It doesn’t have to be this way. In most cases you can get your body back, or at the very least, improve the way you move, feel and think. We offer an approach that allows you to take control of your wellness through specific and effective training incorporating bodywork, exercises and learning.

We use various forms of bodywork (massage) to free and open blocked tissue and enhance your awareness of where you are restricted. Once the body is more “free” we then move into specific exercises that will enable long term changes and help you to live pain free
